About

These are the disjointed writings of an adult beginner who has began again, it’s ballet 2.0.

Ballet was a mystery to me my whole life. Something beautiful only a chosen few could do. By the time I had figured out ballet is for anyone who wants to put forth the effort and not just cute little girls I was 25 and working on my graduate degree.  I have loved it almost everyday since, even those years when I quit, loving it from afar.

I’m a bit older now and love it more than ever. One thing age has taught me is that if there is something you want to do, you go and do it!  Life is too short to for regrets. If you want to dance, dance!!

The name, “Leotards and the Buns In Them” came from a G-chat conversation between a good friend and myself when I was trying to explain something ballet related.  As soon as I first read those words she typed, I knew then that it would make a great title for something, but at the time I didn’t know just what. I wrote it down so I wouldn’t forget it. A few weeks later I started this blog and needed a name, and it fit perfectly.

  1. Great blog! :) I’m going to add you to my “Dance Links” section – hope you’ll consider adding me to your blogroll!

  2. Heehee. This blog is great. I’m an adult beginner as well (took it briefly about 20 years ago!). You’re Blog isin my faves now. :D

  3. Hey, I love your blog (I found it when I searched how to build my own barre–and I successfully did!). I’m working on starting a website called the Adult Ballerina Project, a guide for beginner adult ballerinas, and I was wondering if I could interview you for it. For more information, you can check out the (probably) temporary site here: http://adultballerinaproject.wordpress.com/about-the-adult-ballerina-project/ or e-mail me @ kristengillette@verizon.net. Thanks!
