Blue Ribbons

Pabst isn’t the only thing with blue ribbons.  Here they are my faithful readers, for the first time. Can I get a drum-roll please…

PBR- Pointe with Blue Ribbons

As you can see I went with blue ribbons, duh. Now I am a fan of the color pink but sewing pink ribbons was just too much pink for me.  Blue looks pretty boss though, but it wasn’t my first choice, I’m still on the lookout for something with a bit more attitude. I have received some great suggestions to manify them. Post any ideas you may have, thanks!

The OMG & WTF factor is still quite high.  At times I can’t believe I actually went ahead and bought these insane shoes.  Sewing ribbons and elestics was a task, I even drew blood and accidentally marked my shoes with my own DNA. So don’t be stealin’ my shoes bitches!

My Gaynor Mindens

Tomorrow I’ll be taking them to class tomorrow for show-and-tell with my instructor to get the final ok, then the ankle breaking and toe mangling will commence! However, Thursday will be the last class before a three week summer break, which means no ballet or pointe class until mid August (rolls eyes)! Oh, almost forgot, in case you were wondering what they are, Gaynor Minden 4-522-22, wide box, hard shank, deep vamp and a high heel and a cool green bag to carry them in. Pretty dope, eh?

  1. Love the blue ribbons! It makes me want to get all funky with my next pair.

  2. Love it. Way to man up your pointe shoes! Break a leg (haha, don’t)… looking forward to reading all about how it goes!

  3. hi,
just found your blog.and i love it.
and i also love your pointe shoes, i have just the same ones ( :p but in my size ) they are really amazing to dance.the inside is very soft, so less blisters and pain, and even better they don’t die.

in my class ( also an adult beginner pointe class) there are also two boys with pink shoes ( or i must say men, they are 21 and 24 years old) and they were the first with tears in their eyes.

so i wish you good luck

    greets

    • Thanks, I’m thrilled that people actually find and read this blog and I’m glad you enjoy reading it, because I enjoy writing it.
It’s good to hear that you like our shoes. I went in blind hoping to be guided in the right direction. They seem well constructed when I was inspecting all of the choices.
Sticking my fingers in my ears and saying “lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalallalalala i can’t hear you” when reading about the guys crying.

      • now you say you can’t hear me … but we will talk after your first lesson? ok?

just do like my teacher says: the more pain you have, the more you must smile …

        grts

      • I don’t know how long your classmates were in their pointe shoes, I was only in mine for 35-40 minutes. I only did barre exercises, I’ll admit I was more than ready to take them off when we were done and moving onto center work. I got through it without crying though. I never realized how comfortable my soft shoes were until I put them on for center work. That said, I can’t wait until our end of summer break ends and I can get back in the studio and resume pointe work.
I like your teachers saying, I must have been smiling a lot.

      • ow, btw i also don’t use pink ribbons, i always wear black tights so i bought black ribbons in a store where old ladies buy their things you need to sew .. you know … where i was the only customer under 65 …

it was much cheaper than the ribbon in the dancestore and you have all te colors of the rainbow…
and they have also pencils to dye satin.. that will be the next step… i want black pointe shoes ..

        grts

      • High fives, for not using pink ribbons! My blue ribbons nearly disappear into my black tights, but the pink boats sewn to them really stick out. Oh well, what are you going to do? Black point shoes look too cool, maybe one day!
You are so right about old people at the fabric store, a strange place.
